Data comes in many forms. Evaluating television ratings, tracking lightning strikes, and comparing salaries of men and women are introduced to describe how data can be measured and analyzed. The concepts of mean, median, outliers, and standard deviation are used to group numbers into meaningful categories. Data is plotted on stemplots, histograms, and boxplots to demonstrate how graphs reveal a statistical pattern, and answer complicated questions.
