How do we compare the relationship between two things: manatee deaths and power boat registrations, weight loss and metabolism, genetics and personality, or pollution and marine life? Here a new picture emerges, a scatterplot, that shows a graphic comparison of two variables. Fitting lines to data and correlation coefficients provide a numerical representation of how one variable affects another.
