Working with Columbia University Teachers College, COMAP is developing online professional development courses for graduate credit for mathematics teachers. Working with a project team of leading mathematicians, educators, and online instructional technology experts, COMAP is creating both content and methods courses that will address the current shortage of well-trained mathematics teachers in rural, as well as urban, districts.

Today students face "must pass" scenarios: passing newly required math courses and statewide assessments such as the MCAS, TAKS and Regents. These tests and courses require many students to think in new ways, and work harder than they ever have before. COMAP provides the necessary tools to help teachers prepare students for these challenges: curriculum and teaching strategies that promote critical thinking and motivate students to achieve.

Today’s technical and vocational schools face a new challenge—preparing students for high-stakes exams based on changing curriculum standards, while retaining their commitment to applied and contextual learning.
