Analytic Number Theory and the Zeta Function

Author: Bruce Hanson

Number theory is an area of mathematics in which the properties of the positive integers become the focal point of study. Historically, number theory has developed in several directions, one being called analytic number theory. Analytic number theory has become distinguished from other approaches to number theory by the use of techniques that contemporary mathematicians would classify as belonging to either real or complex analysis.
