The Statistical Evaluation of Burn Care (UMAP)

Author: Richard G. Cornell; Jairus D. Flora, Jr.; Larry D. Roi

A model for the probability of death from a burn is developed in this module. This model is used in comparisons of patient mortaility patterns between different institutions. These comparisons point the way towards improved patient care. This model is modified so that the probability of death for individual pateints can be quickly computed as an aid in prognostic evaluation and treatment decisions. The data used for model building and instiutional comparisons are from the National Burn Information Exchange.
