“What is UMAP?” The acronym in the name of this journal elicits that question. And the standard answer is that the full name of the journal is The UMAP Journal of Undergraduate Mathematics and Its Applications—but that leaves the questioner wondering just what happened to the “P” in “UMAP” and perhaps why the acronym isn’t “UMIA” instead. At last we explain the mystery and—to avoid confusion—also detail other UMAPs.
